In November 2008 I began working for Build Change, serving as Program Manager in West Sumatra, Indonesia in 2008 and later in Sichuan, China in 2009-2010. Build Change is a non-profit social enterprise that designs low cost earthquake-resistant houses and trains builders, homeowners, engineers and government officials in emerging nations to build them. During my time as Program Manager with Build Change my team of 12-20 local engineers brought earthquake-resistant solutions to over 1000 families in post-earthquake reconstruction projects, primarily in rural areas.
