The Battle of Mara (Quilted Creatures)
Default Title -
I would like to make an edition of small, 6 x 6 ' square, contemporary quilts, patterned and structured like the typical 'dutch doll quilt' that utilizes applique.
Instead of the traditional 'dutch doll' that would make up the image within the individual panels, I propose to make animal composite creatures inspired by mythological animal composite creatures and divs.
I propose using only donated, repurposed, salvaged and recycled fabrics for the creatures with in the quilted squares - much like the 'flat stuffies' that I currently make with glue and recycled fabric collage.
I would like to create one large composite drawing of intertwined, hidden, composite animals (at various scales) to be used as the template for the overall quilt stitch pattern that would be machine stitched [the main quilting that unifies/quilts the entire blanket. This way each square panel could be unique-yet the quilts could still be unified and 'editioned' by the overall stitch pattern]
