Default Title -
I am a painter and pattern designer. Throughout my career I have experimented with a variety of printing techniques and materials, and I have specialized in digital printing on fabric. I tech regularly on this subject and have mentored other designers in creative arts and design institutions such as Istituto Europeo di Design, Madrid, Bilbaoarte, Bilbao, or Cristóbal Balenciaga Museoa, Getaria, Spain.
This proposal aims at extending the scope of two of my most recent designs.
The first one, “81September” has been developed from a mathematical graphic representation and I want apply it through the technique of silk-screen printing. The second, “ScanGear” is based on a computing glitch and will be transferred from my screen to the fabric through jacquard CAD.
Despite having done intensive research about jacquard CAD, so far I have not had the chance to experiment with it. I am fascinated by the mixture of traditional crafts, digital processing and CAD loom. I would really like to see the glitch that you can see in the attached pictures become a complex weave on a fabric.
The finished and marketable products will be a series of tote bags, t-shirts and jackets.
Please refer to the attached file “Project_PixelsPlot” to see both patterns and simulations of the finished t-shirts, bags and jackets as well as to know more about the creative process.
In the file entitled “My work context” you can find a brief outline of my work as a designer and an artist, which helps to explain the background of my proposal for this residency.
In the production of these objects, I will need to collaborate with:
-Jaquard Loom CAD.
-Supplier of leather handles for the bags.
