I propose to make 4 lighting fixtures and shades that cast the shadows of nature found in outdoor settings.
The first would be a spherical shaped pendant chandelier 15”-18” in diameter. The light source would be a single socket bulb in a round shade glass suspended in the center of a cast sphere of entwined tree branches. The intention is that the shade would create a room filled with tree truck and branch shadows throughout the space. The shade could be designed to be cast in sections that are assembled into the spherical form.
The second light shade is a center post dome that can mount onto existing ceiling fixtures. This shade would be constructed of leaves and would create a dappled light similar to the lighting one experiences when walking under a canopy of trees. I also see this being a cast fixture (14" diameter, 6" in depth).
The final two shades would be laser cut or stamped from a thin veneer, metal or a heat resistant opaque plastic. The first would be a leaf patterned screen that could lock into recessed can lights or onto standard track lighting cans (4", 5" and 6" in diameter). The final piece will be an arched shade of laser cut tree branches that mounts a frame that fits a standard wall sconces (12" in height, 6 inches off the wall, arched on a 12" diameter circle).
